PMIGL
Provides Research Guidelines & Resources
PMIGL
has developed Research Guidelines that provide details necessary
for developing a research proposal that meets the rigors of a
scientifically valid study. It provides the necessary details
for the recruitment of participants, collection of data, protecting
individual privacy, avoiding conflicts of interest, data security,
and whom to contact for support on the development of appropriate
research design. It also provides guidelines for publishing in
the Project Management Journal as well as other pertinent information
that will assist in publishing your results. The Manifesto also
provides links to resources that may be helpful in developing
a research topic and getting published. In addition, PMI Great
Lakes has individuals that you can contact for assistance in developing
your proposal and getting it published. Learn

From
Project Management to Vice President with Tom Keuten
Taking on the role of Project Manager is an accomplishment
all on its own. At some point, you were identified as someone
that is well organized, communicates well and demonstrates leadership
capabilities. Then becoming a successful Project Manager is an
even bigger accomplishment. You’ve shown you can make a
positive impact on your organization and deliver results. This
in itself can be a very rewarding career with lots of variety
and challenges. PMs are rarely bored. But what if you want to
take your career in a different direction, and move up in an organization?
This Presentation will talk about things to look out for on your
journey and take advantage of that can lead to your next role.
Tom
Keuten serves as a Vice President for Rightpoint, an experience
agency. Our programs deliver digital transformation through strategy,
design, technology and change management. He previously worked
for Capgemini, Pariveda and BDO, and has lead projects for great
brands like Marathon Petroleum, General Motors, Amwy, Ford, DTE
Energy, and many others. Tom has supported PMI for years, achieving
PMP certification, working on the PMBOK Guide, leading the 2nd
version of the OPM3 Model and managing Corporate Outreach in Great
Lakes. He taught project management and PMO classes in the US,
Europe and Asia. He earned his MBA from the University of Notre
Dame after earning a bachelor’s from Central Michigan University.

Quality
in Project Controls Panel Discussion
September 29 - 4:30 - 5:30
pm
As Construction Project Managers we know that Scope Management
without a proper Construction (Resource) Plan is impossible. All
project-related activities are derived from a Construction plan
(CP) and must always be generated first, or as PMPs know it as
a Project Management Plan. In a collaborative team, the way CP
is communicated is through a Schedule and it serves as a vehicle
for work structure decisions to be communicated from the GC to
the subcontractors. As the project becomes more complex, the quality
of this planning is diminished and usually requires more resources
such as the bigger Project Engineering Department to perform all
the required Project Controls.
